Well, you want to be aware that there are a few wspr stations down in the antarctic. My signal (from California) was received / spotted by the German research station DP0GVN, and they are located in Antarctica. I was told there is also a research station owned by the US located down there too. So, you may very well have been picked up by one of those stations.

Actually, I've had this problem as well. On a few 'rare' occasions, the wsprnet.org website has shown either my location to be very wrong (off by more than 1,000 km); or that the spotting station is off by several thousand km (station is in Utah, US, but showed him in central Europe).

@Frank O'Donnell I'll be interested to hear more about your project after you can get it working properly. But a 40 ft. loop? Wow! That's insane.

You'd still have to register with the utility co. to transmit on those frequencies even with such low power output?
