Why I have minimum order value of 180$ for UK customers.

The UK government requires sellers world wide to register for tax account and take out VAT for gods sold to UK citizens.

The seller is also required to keep books on these transactions and send in the VAT once a month to a special UK government bank account.

This only applies for gods up to a 135£ limit (aprox. 180US$), for gods valued at 135£ or more the VAT will instead be taken out at the border and will be handled by the UK customs.
This is how most countries handles VAT for imported gods and is easier for the seller to handle.

As a one man business it is just to much work for me to handle this UK VAT rule.

So by having a minimum order value of 135£ I avoid having to deal with it.

I can not implement having different minimum order values for different countries in my online shop so I have an "ugly workaround" were I add a lot of shipping costs to UK orders if the order value is below 180$ to force it up above 180$.

Due to this setup UK customer have a slightly lower threshold for free shipping of 180$ instead of 200$ for the rest of the world.

So if you are from the UK and put gods in your shopping cart valued at less than 180$ your shipping will be 100$ and if you put in more than 180$ your shipping will be free.
